Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers as she turns into one of the galaxy’s mightiest heroes after the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.

Captain Marvel is a 2019 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superheroine Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. It is the twenty-first movie installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as the ninth installment of Phase Three. Captain Marvel will appear in Avengers 4 (#InfinityWarPart2 film) in 2019 alongside the Avengers to help defeat of Thanos and restore the Universe.

When Captain Marvel finally arrives in cinemas it will mark a hallmark moment for Marvel Studios – its first solo female superhero film since the MCU kicked off with 2008’s Iron Man.

Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel is currently scheduled to break out into her own solo film on March 8, 2019 in both the UK and US.

With that symbol showing up at the end of Avengers: Infinity War in the after credit scene, attention is turning to Marvel Studios’ 2019 lineup. Next year will kick off with Captain Marvel, a movie that marks the debut of Brie Larson as Air Force pilot-turned cosmic superhero Carol Danvers and has a release date of March 6, 2019.

Jude Law will join Larson as the male lead in the film. Law will apparently play Carol Danvers’ (Larson) mentor D Walter Lawson — the civilian alter-ego of the Kree warrior Mar-Vell, the comics’ original Captain Marvel. Samuel L Jackson will also be returning as Nick Fury – with both of his eyes intact, as the film is set long before Avengers: Infinity War.

Captain Marvel will be the MCU’s first flashback film, set before the rise of the Avengers. It will somehow tie into Ant-Man and the Quantum Realm, although don’t ask us how just yet.

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is about to take the lead in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Where that leaves Iron Man and Captain America is anyone’s guess.

Will she help defeat Thanos and save the Avengers in the untitled #Avengers4 movie?

David F. Sandberg (“Annabelle: Creation”) directs New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!,” the origin story that stars Zachary Levi (TV’s “Chuck”) as the titular DC Super Hero, along with Asher Angel (TV’s “Andi Mack”) as Billy Batson, and Mark Strong (the “Kingsman” movies) in the role of Super-Villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. Peter Safran (upcoming “Aquaman,” “The Conjuring” and “Annabelle” films) serves as the film’s producer.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

“Shazam!” also stars Jack Dylan Grazer (“IT”) as Billy’s best friend and ultimate superhero enthusiast, Freddy, part of the foster family that includes Mary, played by Grace Fulton (“Annabelle: Creation”); Darla, played by Faithe Herman (TV’s “This is Us”); Eugene, played by Ian Chen (TV’s “Fresh Off the Boat”); and Pedro, played by Jovan Armand (TV’s “Hawaii Five-O”). Cooper Andrews (TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and Marta Milans (TV’s “Killer Women”) play foster parents Victor and Rosa Vasquez, with Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond”) as the Wizard.

Firmly set in the DC universe but with his own distinctly fun, family-centric tone, the screenplay is by Henry Gayden, story by Gayden and Darren Lemke. Shazam was created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. Christopher Godsick, Jeffrey Chernov, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia serve as executive producers.

Sandberg’s creative team includes his “Annabelle: Creation” director of photography Maxime Alexandre, production designer Jennifer Spence, editor Michel Aller and costume designer Leah Butler.

A New Line Cinema production, “Shazam!” is set for release on April 5, 2019. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

There are a number of characters who have gone by the name “Captain Marvel” over the years – and they’ve appeared in both Marvel and DC comic books.
One of them – Carol Danvers, the most modern version from Marvel’s comics – is getting her own Marvel Cinematic Universe movie in 2019.
We’re really excited about it – seriously, it’s going to be amazing – because Danvers is an awesome character and the movie will introduce the shapeshifting Skrulls to the MCU, which could be absolutely pivotal to the plot of the entire franchise going forward (and she’s set to be the most powerful superhero in the franchise, which is awesome).
In this video, we’ll explain how Danvers came to be such a powerful superhero. These are the origins of Captain Marvel explained…
Carol Danvers worked for N.A.S.A. as the organisation’s Security Director. She became friends with a co-worker who was actually the Kree super-agent Mar-Vell. When an old enemy of Mar-Vell’s attacked him, he shielded Danvers from the resulting radiation. This resulted in her DNA becoming merged with his – and she gained similar powers to him as a result (super-strength, speed and durability, flight capabilities, and energy absorption, projection and manipulation).
She didn’t immediately take the name “Captain Marvel”. She has also been known as Ms. Marvel, Binary and Warbird.
She has been a member of the Avengers and various other superhero teams and organisations.

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, the newest character set to join the MCU, and a probable leader for the next generation of superheroes set to light up our screens. First off, it’s all set to be a period piece taking place in the ’90s, with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury appearing in his pre-eyepatch form, potentially with an explanation as to what actually happened there.

Furthermore, Captain Marvel will be facing off against the Skrulls in the film, an alien race of shape-shifting green creatures; intriguing since they’re traditionally seen as Fantastic Four villains, and so would presumably be under the ownership of Fox.

The superhero name Captain Marvel has a long and tangled history. New Line Cinema is preparing to start filming DC Comics’ Shazam! (who was actually the first Captain Marvel), and Marvel Studios also has their own Captain Marvel movie scheduled for March 8, 2019. Even within Marvel, there have been multiple heroes called Captain Marvel, but the MCU Captain Marvel will be Carol Danvers (previously Ms. Marvel), to be played by Brie Larson.

We’ve known for a while that Captain Marvel would be something of an MCU prequel, as it will be set in the 1990s, feature the alien race the Skrulls as villains, and also Samuel L. Jackson as a younger Nick Fury. As a just-before-Thanksgiving shocker, the news broke that Jude Law will be the male lead in Captain Marvel, and he’s playing “Dr. Walter Lawson.” That right there is sort of a big deal, because that’s the name that the Kree alien named “Mar-Vell” took when he arrived on Earth. And rather coincidentally, Mar-Vell was a Captain. Mar-Vell has been right up there with Adam Warlock as one of the cosmic characters Marvel fans most want to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
